As part of the SeaScapes’ and Partners’ two days of fun at the end of February Half-Term, join us for Social Seawatch
The Durham Wildlife Trust will be leading 2-hour Social Seawatch. Cetaceans are a common sight in UK waters, with regular sightings of minke whales, harbour porpoise, white beaked dolphins and even humpback whales, off the North East coastline. Despite this, cetaceans face numerous threats from human activities. If we are to further the protection of cetaceans in our waters then more information on their numbers and locations is required. Join us to learn all about the cetaceans that visit our coastline, and then help us learn even more about them and their behaviour by doing a SeaWatch survey. Hopefully we will be lucky enough to see some Bottlenose dolphins swimming, feeding and playing in the water.
This event is set on the backdrop of Souter Lighthouse and The Leas. This is a free event. Please feel free to participate in as much or little as you would like.
