SeaScapes Beach Rangers

Are you aged 14-18, love the coast and want to help and learn about marine life?

In our March Beach Rangers session, we’re going on a trip to Seal Sands at Teesmouth National Nature Reserve.

At Seal Sands we will meet Vicky, a British Divers Marine Life Rescue volunteer, watch the seals swimming and resting on the mudbanks, and learn how to tell the difference between common and grey seals, the roles they play in our coastal ecosystem, how to watch them safely and what to do if you come across a seal on the beach.

Vicky will bring her Medic kit for us to look at, and will tell us about the equipment used, giving examples of some of the local rescues she’s done and why.

Please bring a packed lunch, drink, and wear comfortable, weather appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear.

You can either meet us at Seal Sands Car Park or at Roker beach in Sunderland, and travel to Seal Sands on the DWT minibus. Please let us know your preference when you book.
