Join Professor Dave Roberts from Durham University as we walk Easington Beach to Hawthorn Hive whilst exploring how this part of the East Durham Coast has evolved. We’ll also be taking a look at coastal denes and how these were formed during the last ice age.

This walk and talk will involve walking down onto Easington Beach via the steps along the beach banks and along the rocky intertidal zone between Easington Beach and Hawthorn Hive, taking in the raised ice age beach at Shippersea Bay. The walk will then return along the England Coast Path/Heritage Coast walking route on the top of the cliffs.

This event is free to attend and booking is essential.

Please wear suitable outdoor walking shoes and weather appropriate clothing. Please ensure you bring a drink and snacks and anything else you may need. Due to the location, there will be no easily accessible toilet facilities on this route.

This walk and talk is part of the ‘Reading the Rocks’ project which is being delivered by the University of Durham for SeaScapes, and is funded by the National Heritage Lottery Fund.
