START festival 2023 presents… Creative Coastal Meditative Walk with Peter Glaves
How can I get inspiration from the world around me? How can the environment inspire me creatively? This will be a relaxed session, exploring art and nature in the coast around Souter Lighthouse. Participants will use simple tools and techniques to look for inspiration, reflect on their responses to the coast and develop ideas for their own art.
Participants will meet at Souter Lighthouse. The sites we visit will depend on the mobility of participants, if possible we would like to go down to the beach to collect material. We won’t be walking far but the activities will be outside so please bring appropriate clothing (depending on the weather) sun protection, water and sturdy walking shoes as the ground can be uneven at the coast.
Please bring along a sketch book, notebook, camera, or any other equipment/materials you wish, to record your responses and note down ideas. Participants will come back to the lighthouse to break for lunch. The café will be open should participants wish to buy food but there will also be space for participants to eat a packed lunch. In the afternoon, depending on the groups’ wishes, we may go out again or stay at Souter lighthouse to share impressions, reflections and creations. There will be complimentary beverages available.
Meet at the entrance to Souter Lighthouse, then we will go for a walk in the surrounding area. For adults 18+.
There is free parking available to participants. Please speak to the organisers at the start of the workshop if a free parking pass is needed.
Note: participants can look around Souter lighthouse for FREE afterwards if they wish
