Beachcombing – The Whitburn Coastal Conservation Centre

As part of the SeaScapes’ and Partners’ two days of fun at the end of February Half-Term, join us for beachcombing.

The Durham Wildlife Trust will be leading 2-hours of beachcombing. Beachcombing is an activity that consists of an individual “combing” the beach and the intertidal zone, looking for things of value, interest or value. This could be shells, pebbles, sea-polished glass or driftwood for example. For some people, this means collecting items you can display at home or use for crafting projects.

This event is set on the backdrop of Souter Lighthouse and The Leas. This is a free event. Please feel free to participate in as much or little as you would like. This activity will be taking place outdoors. Please ensure that you have warm & dry clothing and suitable footwear.

Other activities happening later in the day include:

  • 11:00 Whitburn Coastal Conservation Centre Opens – find inside stall holders, games and wave machine
  • 11:10 – 12:40 Bird Walk (please meet outside Whitburn Coastal Conservation Centre)
  • 12:00 – 13:00 Sports games (please meet in Foghorn Field)

  • 13:30 – 14:30 Sport games (please meet in Foghorn Field)
